 Evangelical Catholic Church
Pastoral Policy and Guidelines

Vocation & Formation Policies

It shall be the policy of the Evangelical Catholic Church to unconditionally adhere to the canonical norms and procedures regarding candidates for the clerical and religious life and also for candidates seeking incardination.  The canonical norms and procedures designated for formation cannot be dispensed by either a local ordinary or religious superior.  It is the responsibility of the individual candidates to fulfill each and every formational requirement prior to ordination or religious profession.

The Church wishes to stress that anyone who has been convicted of sexual assault or abuse are automatically barred from candidacy in any aspect of secular or religious formation.

Candidates who provide false information on their applications shall be dismissed from any formation program.  Those who have attained ordination or religious profession using false information on their applications shall have such ordinations or religious professions declared null and void.

For complete vocational information, please visit our vocations page.

Guidelines for Clerical & Episcopal Participation
in Ordinations & Consecrations
outside of the Evangelical Catholic Church

The Clergy and Bishops of the Evangelical Catholic Church welcome the opportunity to celebrate in the Ordinations of Deacons and Priests and Consecrations of Bishops outside of our jurisdiction.

In order for the Clergy and Bishops of the Evangelical Catholic Church to liturgically participate in such Ordinations and Consecrations, the candidate (s) for Orders or for Consecration must meet the same or parallel formational standards prescribed for candidates for Ordination and Consecration within the Evangelical Catholic Church.

Should such candidates from outside the Evangelical Catholic Church meet these formational standards, then the Clergy and Bishops of the Evangelical Catholic Church can fully participate in the liturgies of such Ordinations and Consecrations as representatives of the Evangelical Catholic Church.  If such candidates from outside of the Evangelical Catholic Church do not meet these formational standards, then the Clergy and Bishops of our jurisdiction may attend such Ordinations and Consecrations, but they cannot vest or play any liturgical roles.

To review the formation standards of the Evangelical Catholic Church, please visit our vocations page.

*If you wish to invite our Bishops to participate at your ordinations or consecrations, please make arrangements for their attendance four months prior to date of ordination or consecration.  If location of ordination or consecration is more than 150 miles from the residence of the bishop, we ask that the planning committee for ordinations or consecrations to anticipate and secure the travel and lodging needs for the Bishop.
